WALK TO END HUNGER

Where Culture and Community Join Together
To Fight Childhood Hunger

Where Love Grows’ Walk to End Hunger Program (previously known as Do the Local Motion) offers free lunchtime tours featuring Downtown Tampa and the Water Street communities from October through May. The concept was created by the Tampa Downtown Partnership in 2008.

In 2016, the program was transferred to Where Love Grows, a trusted community partner. Where Love Grows is grateful the Tampa Downtown Partnership continues to support our efforts and remains our lead sponsor.

Walk to End Hunger has hosted over 250 events and 7800+ walkers. The original intent was to encourage downtown employees to get out of their offices, enjoy our city, and move more on their lunch break. We are thrilled that interest has expanded to reach walkers of all ages. Some drive in to make a day of it, enjoying additional events or a nice meal. We are grateful to the local merchants who support our program and the samples and “pop ins” they offer.

In addition to socialization, our program provides a great opportunity to bring awareness to Where Love Grows’ mission to fight hunger for children and families, offering opportunities for donations &/or sponsorships. Walks remain free, however, a suggested donation of $10.00 is encouraged.
100% of the proceeds directly benefit our programs.
