Do The Local Motion
Culture, Community and Fitness at its Best
The concept was created by the Tampa Downtown Partnership in 2008 and transferred to Where Love Grows, a trusted community partner, in 2016. In addition to the program’s growth and expansion, we have also been able to offer local students the same experience to enjoy our culture, community and fitness experienced by adult participants.
The program has hosted over 200 events and has had over 7800 walkers participate over the 13 seasons. The original intent was to encourage downtown employees to go out and enjoy our city who still attend our events. We are excited to also see the attendees who drive in just for the walks and then make a day of it enjoying events or a great meal in downtown. We are grateful to the merchants who support our program and appreciate the samples and “pop ins” they provide!
Do the Local Motion events help bring awareness to Where Love Grows’ mission to fight childhood hunger and provides an opportunity for donations or sponsorships. Walks remain free, however, a suggested donation of $5.00 per walker is appreciated to help support Where Love Grows’ mission. Proceeds directly benefit our programs fighting food insecurity for children and families in our community.
